Dispneia: revisão integrativa sobre o conceito da falta de ar

Resumo

Introdução: Dispneia é um sintoma angustiante e que muitas vezes limita as atividades de vida diária (AVD’s). É um sintoma que pode ser expressado de diferentes formas como: “falta de ar” e “angústia no peito”. Objetivo: Identificar definições e conceitos sobre a dispneia ou falta de ar presentes na literatura científica. Métodos: conduziu-se uma revisão integrativa por meio de pesquisa de artigos nas bases de dados PubMed, Google Scholar, Scielo e LILACS, utilizando-se os descritores: dyspnea, dispneia, dispnea, breathlessness, conceptualization, psychophysical. Considerou-se como critério de inclusão: trabalhos que apresentassem conceitos de dispneia e/ou falta de ar, com base em estudos descritivos/não experimentais ou com abordagem qualitativa. Resultados: foram identificados um total de 20828 títulos de artigos. Respeitando-se os critérios de inclusão, exclusão e as duplicidades, ao final da seleção, foram considerados 47 artigos. Conclusão: há consenso entre a maioria dos autores quanto ao fato da dispneia ser um sintoma, uma percepção, uma experiência subjetiva ou uma sensação, impactando na saúde e qualidade de vida dos indivíduos com diferentes estados de saúde.
